Shredded for Summer Challenge: Week 6
Training

Sh*t’s all got a bit real this week. It’s been fun so far but now it’s dawned on me that I’m having my final photos done in just over three weeks. That feels very, very soon.

I’m about to enter my final week of heavy lifting before we start to ‘shred’. That will mean stripping out most complex carbs from my diet, keeping a close eye on unnecessary fats and starting to incorporate High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) into my training sessions.

Boxing sessions

I am actually looking forward to the new kind of training, Terry was an amateur boxer so we’ll be doing a lot of boxing sessions in my final couple of weeks. Minimal carbs is going to be hard though, I’m one of those people who doesn’t feel a meal is complete without them so eating enough to feel full will be a challenge.

On the topic of food, I’m now the total opposite of how I was when I started. During the first week or so I was struggling to get all the food down but on my rest day yesterday my body was screaming for it. I could have eaten all day, I just couldn’t get full. It shows that my body needs the fuel to build and repair.

*I’m going to grass up my colleagues now too*
Some brownies were brought into the office and they looked delicious. Instead of supporting me through it, some of my team mates tried getting me to break and have one, “Just have a crumb”, they said, “Just lick one”, “You can have ONE, surely”…
I didn’t even touch one. I did have a smell though (yes, I’m still doing that). Thanks team, I told you I’d snitch.

On a different note, I’m really getting into calisthenics (body weight exercises) and have been going to an outdoor gym on Clapham Common most weekend mornings. If you can find one near you, definitely check it out, they’re simply a mix of pull-up bars, dip bars and steps so you can do an array of different exercises.

Shout out to Reflex Nutrition this week for reading my week 4 blog about craving desserts and sending me out some banoffee pie flavour protein! You legends, you.

Onto my final week of weights and carbs now… I’ll enjoy it while I still can.
